My tub fills up very fast when I take a shower and takes hours to drain. I have used liquid plumber, adjusted the stopper at the end of the linkage rod, augured the overflow hole and plungered the drain. The drum trap was replaced by PVC P-trap before I bought the house.
I am at a loss and really don't want to pay a plumber an outrageous amount of money if this is something I can do myself. I feel like every time I have someone come to my house they try to tell me I need a COMPLETE replacement of whatever my issue is.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Kris

you did not insert the snake far enough into the tub overflow. you have to get farther down the pipe to reach the clog..

Well, maybe that IS what you need, but not too likely. From your description, you have done everything YOU can do, so either live with it or call that "expensive plumber".

You need a 1/4" snake to traverse the trap and get to the clog. Available at your local hardware store. Also does it drain slow when you have the plunger out of the overflow? If it does, you need that snake for sure. Good luck.
