 Broken valve stem/Sterling Question
Author: kjharris (NM)

Good evening folks. The single shower handles in both of my bathrooms are terrible. It takes forever to get the water temp set right for a comfortable shower because of the shoddy handle. So I tried to replace it myself and ended up snapping the valve stem. I'm unable to find anything in the Sterling brand at the local hardware stores. I did some searching online and am wondering if Danco is compatible with Sterling. I know that mixing and matching generally doesn't work but I came across that name a lot while searching for Sterling. I appreciate any help and will try my best to provide more details if necessary. Thanks!

Danco does indeed sell a replacement stem for Sterling. They sell replacement parts for a lot of different brands.
Quality is not the best, but sometimes you've got to make do with what's available. I take it replacement of the entire faucet is not an option at the point ?

No I suppose it's not out of the question but I was hoping to avoid it. I will admit, even if it appears obvious, that I may not be savvy enough to replace the whole thing.
