 Changing water heaters
Author: Don D (NY)

Recently bought a new house that has a 15 yr old water heater. I know that 10 yrs is about the time they start to go so am thinking about replacing before it goes and floods the basement. I also rent the house so do not want it to go while renters are in.
It is a 110 gallon heater I guess because of the whirlpool tub upstairs which I will hardly ever use. Does it make sense and is it possible to get two smaller heaters so that e are not constantly heating such a large supply and never using that much? I would like to have the capability but not always be using it. Thanks for any help.

Yes, pipe two 50 gallon heaters in series and keep the breaker turned off on the 1st heater unless needed.

Most electric water heaters will last a long time provided that they have regular basic maintenance.
