First time home owner. The plumbing under my kitchen sink has seemed off to me since day 1. The pipe coming off the garbage disposal doesn't look right and the hoses for the dishwasher don't seem like they drain well. Also, there is some water damage under the ending of the dishwasher pipes and the garbage disposal. Neither sinks drain slow, but there is a gross smell under the sink. I had to put the board there because the sink was sagging pretty bad so there was a gap between the sink and counter-top.

The disposal trap/drain piping needs to look like sink's drain/trap or it should tee into the sink's vertical drain pipe.

simply come straight out of the disposer into a tee above the other trap. plug off the other side.

compared to that installation, including the sink mounting, even a handyman's work would look good.

That's more than a "S" trap, that's a "W" (double "U" trap .

no, since the bottom(s) are curved and not sharp it is actually a (pronounce it) double 'U' trap

Can I really just plug off the other pipe? Wouldn't it just fill up with gunk?
