 Water Softener

my friend just bought a house and as an afterthought he had the builder add a stub for a water softener. I told him I would help him install it. the builder left a 1 1/4 CPVC loop. I was expecting a little smaller. Can the pipe be reduced to 3/4 going into and out of the unit without a drop in water pressure

You won't lose any pressure but you will lose volume. Where does the other end of the 1 1/4" go ? I normally use 1" for water softner installs.

the loop was added outside (it was supposed to be in the garage but it was an oversight) instead of tearing out the drywall (400K brand new home) it goes from the street to inside the house. My buddy says the valve says 1 1/4. they duct taped foam around the whole thing. I still cant believe its outside
