ice maker supply line pin holes

The plastic lines that now come with the refrigerators are prone to pinholes. Can the line be replaced with another material?

My fridge is an LG and the water supply line goes directly into the back of the filter. The filter is located inside the refrigerator, back, top, right side. The connector that receives the plastic tube in the back of the filter is a quick connect type.

Thank you in advance for your reply.

It's been my experience the only time the plastic is prone to pin holes is when you have mice. But the best way is a braided steele ice maker line. You can get them in 5ft or 10ft. Fluid Master is one line of them. But if you are looking to replace the entire line you may need a short piece of the tubing and a compression coupling to adapt it to the quick connect.

I believe he is referring to the line from the solenoid valve to the internal filter, and a braided line will NOT work for that.

Yes I am referring to the to the internal filter. That's the line that is supplied with the fridge.

No mice. I am not the only one with this problem. Do a google search. These are tiny pin holes. I have repaired or replaced the tube 4x. problem is it is hidden and do not become aware of the leak until there is a great deal of damage to walls floors etc...been kicked off my home owners insurance.

The plastic lines are good for at least five, maybe ten years. One option is to just replace with new plastic tubing every so many years.

With a braided line. I meant this to use the quick disconnect.
