Installing a Moen shower Rough in valve upside down?
Author: himey97 (VA)

I have a Moen rough in valve 62360 to install in a "Shower Only" configuration.
I've read elsewhere that the bottom tub port provides higher flow in gallons per minute.

Can I:

1) Cap the top port and install the valve upside down and just reverse the cartridge?
or
2) Cap the top port, leave valve upside up and run the bottom port to the shower head?
or
3) Connect both top and bottom port together via a tee and then run to shower head?
or
4) You must install cap the bottom port and install normally or the world will explode? smiling smiley

[I already know the shower head limits flow.....but that I can deal with ! ]

Thoughts and recommendations?

1. You CANNOT install the Moen valve upside down, period.
2. You can use the bottom opening and pipe it around and up to the head
3. you can tee both openings together and run up to the head
4. If you have an opening that you do not use put a plug in it or you will flood the bathroom.
