Hi Experts,

I have a basement sewage pit with an ejector pump (and just-installed pit alarm). I have a separate sump pump as well. I have a bathroom in the basement that is tied to the pipe that runs into the sewage pit. (Sink and toilet.) I also have a wet bar sink that enters the pit from above through a PVC pipe.

I noticed when I installed today my ejector pump pit float valve alarm, that there is a constant steady stream of running water through the inlet pipe into the pit. I would estimate the rate of fill to be 8oz. per 5 seconds. I was confused because my sink wasn't running at the time and the toilet was not used for weeks. The only thing I can think of that could have been the problem with a a leaky flap valve in the toilet.

I checked my toilet tank for leakage and confirmed no such leakage. I then turned off the water main to the house, and drained the toilet tank completely just to be 2x sure that there is no tank leakage. Yet still, there is this constant flow of clear water from the inlet into the pit.

The home was a new construction in 2006 and we had the bathroom installed in 2008, so everything is pretty new.
(BTW, I have a furnace humidifier that ties into a floor drain that leads to the ejector pit, but I made sure there is no water flowing through the pipe.)

Any ideas as to where the water is coming from? I'd be very interested in your thoughts and analysis.

Could be ground water infiltration.

Steve your area has received a lot of rain in the last 24 hours. Ground Water tablet has invaded your ejector pit. I'm sure you will see less action as the water table subsides. Water the gutter run off and where it travels.
