 Undermount sink
Author: marlies1964 (IN)

Three years ago I moved into this house.... The kitchen has an undermount sink.... looked great until 2 days ago when the sink fell out !!! thank goodness the plumbing and garbage disposal kept the whole thing from collapsing and making a mess.... I propped up the sink by wedging a 2x4 under the sink and lifting it back up to where it belongs.

I am having a heck of a time finding someone to fix this.... can I do this myself? what kind of adhesive do I use?

Thanks in advance for any advice. Marlies from Indiana

What material is the sink and countertop made of? Is there wood under the countertop, to aid in attaching bracing?

You do NOT use "adhesive". You need support clips of some kind, but which ones you need depends on the counter material and the type of sink.

IMO:

replace the sink with a quality drop in

the only cost effective solution considering the 'potential' damage should a water line break next time it 'drops out'

You'll need to remove the sink completely, remove all traces of sealant from the sink as well as the mating surface underneath the counter, clean with denatured alcohol. Use 100% pure silicon atop the sink when reinstalling, you can use the wire hanger supports and/ or drill the countertop and use anchors, screws and brackets to secure the sink into position.
