Hello...
I was wondering if it would work to put something like the AO Smith 19 Gallon ProMax Compact Residential Electric Water Heater, model EJCS-20 in as an emergency hot water source for a quick shower and lesser hot water needs. I need something small so my 8kw generator can run it. I have a 4.5gpm on demand for everyday use but it's way too much for my generator. Thanks for your input, it's always appreciated

Sure, that will work and the shower doesn't even need to be quick.

The volts, wattage, and amperage of the ELEMENTS will determine whether your generator will operate it, NOT the size of the tank. A 19 gallon heater will usually have 120v elements and less than 2,000 watts.

The model I am looking at says 2500 watts, my generator will do that no problem. My question was whether it would be enough for a shower which it sounds like it will be. If anyone has any other input, it is greatly appreciated! Everyone's help is always appreciated!

It will be enough for one shower, but it will NOT reheat very quickly for a second one.

That would be fine, one of us showers in the morning and I shower at night, so it is perfect! Thanks to both of you!
