 Shower Not Working
Author: Saminnj (NJ)

Hey. I'm a first time homeowner about 8 months in. I have a 1.5 bath house. My only shower was "shuddering" a bit and would occasionally stop working, if I turned everything off and back on it would start right back up.

Recently it stopped working entirely. The bath faucet on the tub work, as do every other faucet/toilet etc in the house.

When I turn the water on to the tub everything runs great, when I turn the nob to switch the shower on the tub water stops but nothing but the occasional trickle comes out of the shower head.

I tried removing the shower head but that isn't the problem. Checked my hot water heater and it sounds like it's running. I couldn't find any obvious signs of leaks

Any idea what this might be and how to diagnose/fix?

From your description, the problem HAS to be between the tub and the shower head so the only thing there is the diverter valve and/or the shower head.

You mentioned "everything off"

Does that mean you have both hot and cold stems, a diverter and showerhead or do you have a single handle mixer, diverter and showerhead?

Can you provide a picture?
Best Wishes

The shuddering tells me that a washer has became dislodged from the end of the diverter stem.
