Hi, I would like to a use a compression fitting on 1/2" copper to transition to 1/2" Pex. What is the best way to do this? This is my newbie best guess:
1/2 x 1/2 mpt brass compression(copper side) -> 1/2 fpt pex brass adapter (pex side)
Teflon tape and/or pipe dope on threaded connection? Thanks!

you can use a 5/8 compression union. just need to put a stainless stiffener inside the pex.

All you need is a Sharkbite coupling. It already has the "support insert" for PEX and you remove the one on the copper side.
