 Dual Sink Clogged
Author: HKlinkhamer (IL)

For the past month I have been having a problem with my kitchen sink backing up. It is a dual sink with a garbage disposal. While running the water all of a sudden that side will back up and then the water starts flowing up the other side. Then I get a series of air bubbles. Sometimes it drains super slowly, sometimes not at all. Plunging has not been effective. The traps are clean. There is an access to the drain under the sink further down from the traps. Typically I open that up and let the water drain out, but it is sitting in the pipe at the access point where I drained. Running a snake tends to do the trick, but I notice that when I reel it back in there is no gunk or anything on the auger tip. Could it just be air bubbles causing the blockage? I will also add that six weeks prior to this I did have the roof replaced. As well, I checked the drain pipe going to the main drain and it leans slightly back towards the sink. Could one of these be the causes and if so what do you recommend? Thanks in advance.

Your clog/blockage is further downstream. Plunging only serves to push the clog further into the wasteline. Consider, bringing in a bigger coil or hire a licensed professional. A licensed plumber.
