We just bought a gutted property; we are converting it into a monastery/church. Currently it has 5 bathrooms without any fittings. We will finish those bathrooms and also install a sprinkler system. The water line coming to the building is 3/4 inch. What is the procedure with WSSC to increase the water line? Also, any helpful tips are welcome.

Your plumber applies to the water company for a new water line AND meter, then he runs a new pipe from the meter to the building.

Will this require a new saddle adapter at the water main for the difference in sizes?

Probably, depends on the size of the existing tap into the Main. You don't want to choke your system as it affects the volume you can obtain and that may be necessary. Talk to your Water provider about your situation.

Obviously YES, because the city only installs size saddle that the existing meter requires. Usually a big fee for the new larger meter and a large minimum monthly bill for the water used.

I thought, and I could be wrong, that the saddle adapter could handle two sizes 3/4 in and 1 inch. After that, a different saddle adapter would have to be used. On a live line, I would have to think the water company would have to shut off a street valve and bleed the line to make the necessary changes, including the meter as was previously mentioned.

They can shut off, cap, and abandon the existing corporation cock, then "hot tap" the new 1 1/2" one on the main without shutting off the water.
