Hello,
I have a shower diverter valve that may be 40 years old and I am looking for two new cartridges(one for each bath) so I do not have to re-solder a completely new unit after removing the tile etc.. I have pictures but I guess they do not allow posting them here(or I do not know how). The unit is a large plastic handle like new ones that you lift up and down to turn on the water, BUT to go from hot to cold it only moves along an axis from 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock. It does not ROTATE like newer valves. I do not know the brand name nor could I find a part number. Any help would be appreciated!

It could be an old Delta valve. In the listing below where you wrote your posting, it tells you how to reference a picture in your text.
