If my main was clogged wouldn't everything back up? Ex.washer, kitchen sink, basement shower. They drain fine. Had water backed up in tub and toilet will not flush at all.Now after a few days of not using that bathroom, black water(sewage)is coming in now without any water upstairs being used. City utilities.

IT depends on WHERE the clog is as far as what backs up.

Me thinks the clog is between your tub to the waste line where it connects to the main in your house. A professional will know exactly what to do, in the shortest amount of time. Chemicals won't resolve the issue.

Since it's clearing a pipe anyway, would it be terrible to pour a cleaner(not sulphur or something harsh),since it does go to the flush out? Thru the vent pipe on the roof.

I advise against using chemicals. A plumber would not want to work on pipes which were filled with drain cleaning chemicals.

I would advise against using chemicals. However, if you chose to do so, save your receipts. When you discover that it doesn't work, and possibly make the issue worse, you can ask for a refund.
Do it right the 1st time, so you won't have to do it twice, the 2nd time.
