Cut the line on the refrigerator, use a new ferrule, stiffener and coupling, run a braided flex line from there to the valve.

The braided flex line is better than I have and better than what I was going to say .. make the line nice and long ..suspend it from the refrigerator using a bungee .It was a mistake to use copper ...I had copper once .. it rotted out due to the water acidty..

OK, so I cut the plastic line right below where the bad kink is.
Get a new 1/4X1/4 compression coupling. One end of the compression coupling connects to the cut plastic line. The other end of the compression coupling I will throw away the ferrule and nut, and use the end of a new 1/4 braided line that should thread on directly.
Then the other end of the braided line I need to connect to the valve...I am not sure what is the outlet of that valve. It looks like it may be 3/8"? I am thinking to loosen the nut on the valve where it connects to the wall, and turn it 90 degrees so it faces down to avoid a kink/strain there. So at the valve I need something like a 3/8 compression X 1/4 MIP adapter in order to go to that braided line or can I use what is there that looks like a capped copper tee?

It would look better if you removed that valve and use a new 1/2 " X 1/4" valve.
