Ace Hardware Precharged Water System Tank 01710101
Author: CharlieHam (KY) I have a residential home with loft, main floor, unfinished basement, 3 bathrooms and no unusual plumbing or water pumps. The 2 gal. tank is installed on a Tee above the hot water heater and sprang a pin-hole leak yesterday. One estimate for replacement is $350. Do I NEED it? I'm thinking about removing it and putting in a pipe plug in it's place. What do you think?

Author: bernabeu (SC) You do NEED the compression tank. You may want to DIY - not a really big job. 'Most' tanks attach by a threaded connection. Author: hj (AZ) You DO NEED it, IF, you have a 'closed system' which prevents thermal expansion from being dissipated back into the supply mains.

Author: hi (TX) Maybe just buy one and screw it in yourself They cost about $50 bucks Save $200 [www.plumbingsupply.com] unscrew the old one, Use teflon tape on threads screw in the new one.
