Hi, allallall,
The story is that I visited my friends house last Friday night, and after I made the bm, I used 3 tissue and flush into toilet.
Then the toilet looks clogged. Then I flush again (the second time), and the toilet seems full of water and s****. So I dared not to flush again.
Then I apologized to my friend and said I will by a unclogged liquid and help her the next day.
The bad thing is the next day afternoon, my friend called me and said their downstairs neighbor called a plumber, since their wall got damaged!!
And their neighbor immediately called the insurance company and said they need to change the wall, they started the work immediately and said the cost will be 5000 to 10000 $. How expensive!!
And my friend wanted me to cover all these cost, because the plumber said: the leak to the downstairs wall, is causing by the clog.
But I am so confused,
1. I used restroom everywhere this way, why hers got clogged and even leak?
2. after clogging the bathroom 40 mins later, I checked the bathroom, I did not see any water and sh** on the floor.
3. my friend's condo is very old.
So does the clog itself could cause the leak? it has nothing to do with the old equipment or old sealing? So I need to pay all the cost??
If so, if I have a very strong stool, then I need to replace the wall every time??
Thanks in advance everyone!!
the cost is my 3 month salary!!!~~

You didn't do anything wrong. Unless the toilet over-flowed there should be no damage, even if you dropped a 3 lb. meatloaf in your friends toilet. A backed up toilet should not leak. Either the wax ring under the toilet is no good, or there is some other defect in the piping.
