I am trying to identify the maker of a porcelain cold index button with chrome screw-on cap (see pics and example of matching porcelain hot index button with chrome screw-on cap that I have). I’ve been told that I have to identify the manufacturer before I can start looking for a replacement, but I don’t see any brand name anywhere. It’s an old-style kitchen faucet in my apartment…the building is over 100 yrs old, but the faucet can’t be that old because it has a sprayer – the landlord doesn’t have a clue). Anyway, the button itself is ~3/4" in diameter (~19mm) x 3/16" thick (~5mm). It requires a chrome cap with ridges around the outside - this screws onto threads on the handle and secures the button in place (see pics). Thanks very much for advising if you might know what manufacturer this could be so that I can (hopefully) track down part. Sincerely, Ms Ing Part

If there is an issue with the faucet, it's the landlord's job to take care of it.
Probably not best to touch it yourself because if something goes wrong, the landlord can hold you liable for any and all damages.

I agree with above, it looks like Kingston Brass. You might be able to get a replacement knob assembly from their web site.
Also, check out Newport Brass.
