I own a 90 year-old house. In the basement is a bathroom which hasn't been used for over 30 years. I want to install a sink and toilet. There are copper leads for both the sink and the toilet. However, the sink drain is clogged. I think the drain pipe has collapsed under the cement floor. There is a 3 inch waste pipe from an upstairs bathroom about 3 feet from the sink. Is there any problem with connecting a pipe from the sink p-trap to this waste pipe? If not, how do I make the connection from the 1.25 inch sink drain pipe to the 3 inch waste pipe?

You use a 3" X 1 1/2" tee, then a 1 1/2" wye and st.45 turned vertical for a studor vent and drain the sink into the back of the wye. The studor vent is to prevent the drainage upstairs from siphoning the water out of the new sinks trap.
