diverter swap out did not fix leaky tub spout
Author: artvandelay (MA)

I had posted in a previous thread but maybe it got pushed too far down the line (http://www.plbg.com/forum/read.php?1,554523)

Long story short:

- I have a three handle shower (cold, hot, diverter) from Union Brass
- Original problems were leaky cold line and leaky tub spout when shower was selected
- Cold stem was replaced and leak stopped
- Then cold water would sporadically cut out... you could turn it on sometimes and there would be no water at all (tub & shower)
- I replaced the diverter valve to hopefully address this and leaky tub spout
- Replacing the diverter valve didn't address either of the problems
- Someone else suggested the washer on the cold stem had come loose and indeed it did, so I tightened that back up
- Currently, the cold water does not cut out anymore

BUT, I still have a leaky tub spout when the shower setting is selected and the water pressure for the shower is not so great. Is there anything else to repair/replace without having to remove the entire stem valve body?

Thanks,
Gregg

You still have a diverter problem. If it were the correct one and it was inserted properly, it WOULD make ALL the water come out of the shower.

Do you think it could be the wrong diverter? Or an issue with how it was installed? Or potentially both?

I definitely matched the one I took out but it's been like this since we bought the house so maybe what was in there before wasn't correct?

Thanks
Gregg
