Hi Forum -
Try to keep short to save all some pain. Recently (last 2 weeks) master bath Toilet smells like I don't know where the toilet is located. We scrubbed the walls, floors, trim, washed throwdown carpets and the slate wall.. no luck. Called plumber out...they replaced the wax ring last year so I called them back. We did this previously only for maintenance and had both upstairs toilets done at same time. Plumber came out Saturday. He pulled the Toilet and checked the wax ring and I believe the "closet ring". I saw some rust on the closet ring and he unscrewed it and said it looked fine... but it was enough that I asked again about the rust which he did not see as a problem. He flipped the toilet over and said there was some light condensation inside the toilet underneath (next to where your feet would be). He said that was not right so he wiped it out, replaced the wax ring and put the toilet back together... We then caulked the toilet. Then we took off the seat and cleaned all of the toilet even between the tank and toilet.
When he put the toilet back he said that when it flushed there was one small bubble that should not be present...you know, like 1/2 of a "blub" in the water one time. so he snaked it thinking it was something on the inside of the toilet. (?) This toilet drops directly to the city sewer.
No floor damage or hole damage, no rot, no mold. Light rust on the lower seal below the wax ring but he said it was fine.
So - what could be a cause of the urine smell? COULD we have a micro- cracked toilet somewhere and not even know it? Owned the house for 4 years and never a urine smell. Driving us nutzo!
No other room or other bathroom in our home has this wonderful Urine smell.
Respectfully,

Was the floor under the toilet bowl thoroughly cleaned and sanitized when the toilet was removed?
