 Water heater "pad"
Author: Palm329 (VA)

I'd like to create a round "pad" on my concrete basement floor a couple inches high to place my traditional water heater on. Right now my thought is to pour it with a grout, this will also keep it level.

I'm trying to figure out what to use as the round form to pour the grout into until it starts to harden up... Was hoping one of you guys might have an idea or two?

I guess it would be maybe 24" circle with sides 2" high? Strong enough to contain the liquid for a couple hours.

Thanks!!!!

Why not just use a concrete well cover lid ? That's what I use when a raised pad is called for. They are 24" round and 4" tall. I bet you could buy one for just a bit more than the mix to pout it would cost.

Thanks for the tips... Just to clarify I have a gas heater not electric so not sure if I could use that pad packy...

Where would one obtain a concrete well cover? I'm in the city here no wells around...

Also, is it worthwhile to put the metal drip pan on the pad and below the heater?

Thanks!

If you can pipe the pan to the outside then by all means use one.
