I have a Bradford White Defender gas water heater located in my garage. Recently, the pilot light has been going out frequently, as often as every three or four days. Today, I reignited it and it went out within the hour. Does anyone have any idea what would cause this to happen? I would appreciate any advice! Thanks!

if the pilot flame is yellow and lazy looking, that is the problem. needs to be taken apart and cleaned and possibly a new pilot orfice.
if it is blue and bright then the thermocouple could be failing. it is a relatively easy job to change it.

I the same problem with my heater. All I did was clean off the thermocoupler with some fine steel wool and put it back. Worked good as new. Also your heater may have a flashing light on it. That will tell you what wrong by the number of flashes. You'll have to google the model number to find the flash codes.
