I have an American Whirlpool Virginia 6060 jacuzzi tub in my bathroom and the motor seems fine (has voltage, not seized) so I'm going to change out the air button (switch) and hosing leading from the tub to the motor. However, the air button is unreachable from the garage panel and there's no panel from inside the home to service the tub. Honestly, why do contractors build the tubs this way.
Anyway, is there any way to change out this button from the bathroom besides breaking it off and then gluing the new button in place after fishing the tubing to the motor?
Thanks much for any insights.

Why do you want to change the button ? If you can access the motor you can jumper the relay and see if the motor will run.

I've tested the motor and it's fine so it's either the air button, hosing or switch diaphragm. I figure I might as well replace the air switch and hosing as they're about 10 years old and were easiest to acquire in determining the root cause.

so if the motor tests OK and you can get at it easily, get some of the tubing for the air switch (1/4 inch vinyl ?) and connect the new air switch to the pressure switch thru the access panel and test it that way before you rip out the old switch.

So it's definitely either the air button or hose as I connected the new switch to about a foot of new hosing and the motor started right up and sounded great. I appreciate all the feedback but this leads me back to the original question as to what is the best way to replace the air button which is currently unreachable from the garage panel? Thanks.

WE woudl have to see it to decide if it is REALLY "unreachable", because I have replaced several "unreachable' ones.

Here's a picture of the air button and tub @ [www.dropbox.com]
The access panel is in the garage that shares a wall with the tub (top of picture). I'm 6'6" and couldn't come close to the button from the access panel which is fairly constrained.

why not just leave the old button and mount the new one in a more logical location?

You could open up the access panel in the garage to give you more working room or scrape away the grout on a piece of tile, use a drywall saw to cut around it replace the switch and reinstall the tile and re-grout the tile.
