Capping a PVC electrical conduit with a PVC plumbing fitting
Author: sum (FL)

I need to terminate/disconnect an exterior electrical conduit. It is 3/4" PVC. The conductors has already been pulled out of it.

I would prefer to get rid of the entire PVC conduit all the way to the box, however it is a PVC junction box with the "integrated" hub and the conduit was glued in. So I am going to make a cut say 3" from the box.

I would think I just need a 3/4" cap and glue it. But I can't find a PVC cap in the electrical department at the big box stores!

So, my thinking is, would the white colored PVC cap for 3/4" pipes fit the 3/4" conduit?

If not, suppose I glue a 3/4" PVC electrical male adapter to the short piece of pipe, would a plumbing PVC 3/4" threaded cap fit that male adapter's threads?

I am sure there are online caps made for electrical available but I need to do this quickly.

The pvc electrical conduit used underground in my area is schedule 40 pvc, so it should work fine. A cpvc cap will not.
