 Strange vibration noise in walls
Author: Nettie68 (MI)

Purchased a home 2 years ago. Strange vibration noise in walls..and floor
over crawl space. I know this sounds crazy but I hear it in
Masterbedroom walk in closet which is directly over craw space where sump pump
is. But also hearing it in livingroom and both spare bedrooms
at opposite end of house from Master..which is where my husband
our dog and I sleep. My dog was looking up at our ceiling fan
over our bed Growling at the fan. I also hear a
very strange noise coming from our fridge...sometimes
I unplug it but the noise continues for about 60 seconds. I also hear a POPing sound once in a
While in the kitchen and livingroom. Also echo in kitchen, under front porch as well
as back porch....i put my ear to the walls and hear
Vibration sometimes really short quick sounds..sometimes longer
like a cell phone is vibrating. Once I heard it underneath me in my bed. Anyone
have ideas? Thanks, Lynnette

You might consider taking sleeping pills....just kidding. Sounds like a pipe is loose in the wall. Sometimes the pipes are not anchored like they should be. Also ABS Plastic expands when hot water is drained through it and the waste pipes should be isolated from all wood studa and plates inside the wall. Felt is often used to do this when the home is being built and all piping is exposed. Start here to see if this solves your noise problem. Good luck.

if you honestly think it may be a plumbing issue then check all of your toilet tank fill valves; older styles with a rod and a ball can not fully shut off and oscillate in the tank ever so slightly causing sounds like this to reverberate throughout the home. i have seen this many times.

A partially clogged pressure reducing valve can cause some weird sounds. You may or may not have one underneath your floor but if you do it's worth checking.

This is happening in our home as well. It's very difficult to sleep. Have you figured out what's causing it?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
