 Sump discharge plumbing?
Author: Palm329 (VA)

Guys I'm a bit confused on the discharge pipe routing up out of the sump:

Will be 1.5 inch pvc. Should this come straight up out of the pit, or should it begin inside the pit run out the side (under floor) then come up out of the floor next to the basement wall and up?

If it comes straight up, I'm having trouble imagining how this pipe will penetrate the sump basin lid?

The lid is a plastic thing which drops in then turns a little to lock itself in place.

If I cut a hole thru the lid and run the pipe up and out, how am I supposed to turn the lid to lock it? Unless the hole is perfectly in the center. But even if so, then what about the 2nd discharge pipe from my backup pump? Also, how would I remove the lid totally if it's pierced thru by this pipe?

Can you all shed some light on this please? Thanks!

depends on where you plan to locate the check valve/s. that valve/s will be attached to the discharge pipe/s with rubber couplings. you undo the lower end and lift it slightly and move it to the side. then rotate the cover and lift it off. there is enough movement in the piping to allow the cover to be turned a little.
i wouldn't run the pipe out the side and under the floor.
