Water getting in handheld shower hole
Author: JimJ (MA)

We have a handheld shower that has the hose coming up through a hole in the rim of the tub itself. The handheld is actually used as our standing up shower. The problem is the water goes right in the hole that the hose comes out of and gets down under the tub and onto the drywall of the ceiling below. Anyone know of a way to prevent this?

no - it is not designed for use as a 'stand up' shower

the nest that the handheld sets into is designed for the base of the handle to set into so most naturally the hose is smaller and has a gap that will allow water to enter.
if you set some sort of rubber "O" ring into the hole then the handheld will not fit into it.
i think you'll just have to keep a facecloth around the hole.

Why not use the fixed shower head, instead? If there isn't one and this tub enclosure was not meant to be used for showering, you have a bigger problem that the little hole in the deck.
