Floor drain Not in to sewer
Author: Davedaypayne (Non-US)

Hi Chaps, ex pat Brit again. Do you think it is necessary to put a P Trap under a floor drain that will Not discharge in to the sewer but in to a soak-away. No danger of sewer gasses. The same for the shower again Not discharging in to the sewer so ditto no gas problem.
I have separated the Toilet waste from the grey water as we are forced to use a septic tank system.
Regards

the water in the trap will also stop any flying insects from coming through the vent system and into the house.

....crawling insects, slithering reptiles, crawling/hopping amphibians, etc., are more reasons for a trap.
