I replaced my leaking water heater and after restarting the flame, it burns orange with pretty big flames. Alos, the exhaust vent is very hot. The installation manual says there is an issue if the flame burns orange/yellow. What is the problem and how can I fix it? The previous water heater was replaced due to a leaking tank. Thanks in advance for your help!

Propane or natural gas? Is the heater designed for the gas type you have?

Is the flue baffle installed? If it is,is it seated correctly? Has a combustion analysis been done to check for proper draft?
