Author: need for knowledge (CA) The home is set back off the property 100 ft and has a drop of about 15ft. at that point. The sewer line st the street is 8ft below grade. Is there anyway this house will not need to use a pump for sewage?

Author: North Carolina Plumber (NC) If you're going to be 7' under the sewer, then yes a pump will be required.

Author: packy (MA) i believe he is saying there is a total 23 feet of drop ... 23 x 4 = 89. so at 1/4 inch per foot you will not make it. but at 1/8 inch per foot you will be fine.

Author: toocute350 (LA) As long as your house is above the street you should be fine.Remember water flows with gravity.If your sewer line has to travel up, it won`t drain.

Author: hj (AZ) No way to tell what he means by "15' drop at that point", but if the house is below the sewer line, under the current laws of physics, he will need a pump.

Author: hj (AZ) You are working backwards. The distance is 100' which requires TWENTY FIVE INCHES, (NOT 25 FEET), of fall at 1/4"/foot
