 myers pump problem
Author: joanx (ME)

We have a Myers submersible water pump model 3st52-5-p4 that isn't pumping any water. My husband checked the resistance reading as follows. There are 4 wires. All readings between 3 of the wires and green is infinity so there are no shorts. The other readings are black to red = 22 ohms , red to yellow = 20 ohms , black to yellow = 4.7 ohms. Do these reading look normal or are they the problem. Thanks

The start windings, yellow and red look good.
The main windings, yellow and black look good.
Have you checked the control box ?

Thanks for your reply . Everything else seems to work but the pump. I read somewhere since posting my question that the windings should all be the same resistance within 10 % of each other. I guess I need a professional.

Use an ammeter to check for amp draw on the motor.

I had a plumper come and he said the pump is gone because there is normally no connection between the Blk and Red as they are on different windings.

Can anyone confirm this.
