driveway pitch and sewer backup and garage flooding
Author: niko23 (MA)

i am in a duplex condo.since i am closest to the driveway i get flooding in my garage and porch and both units we had sewer backup. we had a contractor install a sump pump with alarm about 8 years ago. since then i still get flooding in garage but not as much but we the sewer gets clogged ever 2 yrs (no backup because of alarm system) and have to pay 1200 to clear it out. we had aleady paid about 20,000 plus just to put in the sump pump. are there any other options that can be done to ensure i dont get flooding in the garage and we dont have to pay to prevent sewage geting clogged every 2 yrs. i felt we were ripped off. if i sell the house no one will buy a home with flooding in the garage and they have to pay money every few years for to prevent sewer backup. would love any input anyone has that would help solve the problem.

you have a sump pump in your garage? if your car/s leak gasoline and the pump sends that gasoline somewhere it is not supposed to be, you won't have to worry about selling the condo. the EPA will own it.

$20,000.00 to INSTALL the sump pump and $1,200.00 to "clean it out"? Someone is making a fortune off of you.

sorry didnt word it right the sump pump is outside the garage only the alarm is in the garage to notify us when there is a clog. but the driveway is at a slant still and i think that is why it is still getting clogged and my garage floods when it rains.

Simple you should have had a check valve installed between your condo and the street or road.
