I just bought a duplex and turned the water on for the first time in 2 years. One unit has the water working normally, but the other unit has low-no pressure and the kitchen faucet has nothing come out at all. There is also extensive water damage to the floor under the kitchen sink and cabinets. I am on a tight budget and would like to do the repair myself but have no plumbing experience. Any advice on what may be causing this problem and how to start the repair would be awesome!

Start by making sure the valves under the sink are turned on, and remove the aerator on the end of the spout.

To add to North Carolina Plumbers remedy....then turn the water on to see if these actions allowed water to come through normally. If not, you have another problem. But many times, debris in the water can clog up the spout strainer and cause what you describe.

I would also suspect that if there is low-no pressure anywhere, you may have a pressure reducing valve that has a clogged screen in it.
