We bought acrylic freestanding bathtub with overflow for new construction in the US retail store in NJ. Plumbing inspector says that this tub must have listed/registerd cUPC certification in order to pass the inspection. The manufactures don't have this certificate. Is this certification mandatory to pass the inspection? Or the inspector just doesn't want to approve it? He approved everything else.
Thank you very much!

In this area, it would need an IAPMO rating to be approved. If he wants it, you have to comply if you want an occupancy permit for the home.

The store does not have any documents. The manufactures and the store are the same people. Where I can find information about selling bathtubs without certification? Are they allowed to sell it in US? Thanks so much!

"Where I can find information about selling bathtubs without certification? "
you already have what you need. the plumbing inspector did not accept a non-certified product.
the manufacturer either gets a state approved certificate or they pay you for all costs involved in the removal of the illegal product.
if the removal of their product leaves you with no bathing facilities you can not live there as you have not met the full requirement of legal occupancy.

They can sell ANYTHING they want to. It is up to you, the purchaser, to make sure it is an acceptable item.
