I bought the Delta U1072-PK, since the dimensions would fit the the copper pipe with threaded nipple at 4.25 in. from the wall and the original spout matched the dimensions with the delta spout. However, the delta drawing did not show the distance to the diverter outlet, which shorted the installation by 1 1/16 of an inch. In other words, I have a 1 inch space gap between the wall and the back of the spout.
Is there a 1 inch spout extension or an alternate item to recommend without having to saw off the nipple and sweat a new one?

you really don't want to mickey mouse some sort of sleeve between the spout and the wall.
be brave and saw off the adapter. shine up the end of the copper, put a generous amount of flux and solder on a new adapter.
put a damp towel in the tub to catch any drips.
PS, it really isn't that hard..

a picture of your pipe would be much more helpful, because that spout has FOUR different ways of attaching and one of them might be better for your installation.
