2"x6" or 2"x4" inches off the slab? Going to need a shower pan guy to seal it of course. Is hot moping still the water seal for an upstairs shower? TIA... it has been a while since I set a drain for tile shower.

generally three pressure treated 2 x 4's laid on their side.
one runs the length of the wall. it has the studs nailed floor to ceiling. then the doorway has 2 more stacked in it.
enclose them on 3 sides with cement board.
i have only seen one hot mop job in my lifetime.
they all do some sort of rubber or PVC liner mowadays.

I used 2x4 untreated on mine and a pvc liner. A hair dryer or heat gun helps to get the creases out and laying flat.

Thanks guys. The owner has decided to use a Sterling Panel kit and Acrylic Base. This 4 piece kit seems to be pretty easy to install, Any precautions on this install? TIA

out of square corners can make it difficult to install any type surround.
check the rough on the depth of the shower valve.
