 Pvc glue on pex pipe
Author: RR60 (VA)

I think I am ok. But if I got a little bit of Pvc cement on some pex pipe will it do any damage to the pex.
Had a need to run some 1/2" pex thru some 1" PVC and had to glue the pvc together fittings with the pex pipe inside the pvc.

Thanks

It'll be ok, just don't get any cleaner on the polymer fittings.

Thanks,
Was just trying something new for piece of mind in a rental property.

Concrete slab house so no crawl space and needed a water line to a refrig. But did not like the idea of any water lines in a attic.

Ran line with 1/2 pex from water heater closet to attic, then down inside wall to valve box.
Ran the pex inside 1" PVC to within a foot of each connection.

Just gives me some flood protection in case it was to ever freeze up in the attic. At least I won't have heavy wet insulation soaking up the water until the drywall falls. At least limits my damage.
And since the 1" pvc is open in the closet (ran that on the outside of wall) maybe a little heat will into the pipe.

Also some protection from mice or squirrels if ever a problem. And some as sort of a nail guard inside wall.
Anyway only added about 30 minutes to the job and figured it was worth it.
