Hi - I recently purchased this house and have begun noticing black particles coming out of my kitchen faucet. The particles are oily when smeared. The particles do not come from any other lines in the house, and I only see it when the cold water is running (Also, not sure this helps, but I mostly notice it when I turn the cold water on full blast, but not when running a "normal" speed).
I removed the hose connecting the pipe to the faucet, and when I checked the water coming directly out of the pipe, the water was gray/blackish with the black particles, which leads me to believe it is something in the pipes. (Also, when the water was coming from the faucet, it was running clear and not gray/black like it had directly from the pipe, not sure if that is a related, or separate issue.)
I've read about this happening when the flexible rubber hosing breaks down, but is it possible that these particles would come out directly from a pipe? Or is it possible that there is a rubber pipe/gasket of some sort that leads to this pipe where I am noticing the problem?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

You are not suggesting you have a rubber flexible hose in your water system are you? If you do, that is your problem. Do you have a water softener installed? Hopefully no rubber hoses there if you do.
