 wrong glue on pvc
Author: ziggles (MA)

Hi,

I somehow just discovered after 4 years that a bathroom/kitchen addition I built has the wrong glue.
Yup....did a major GULP !!!!!
Funny thing is I can not find any leaks going past 4 years...yet all info says I used the wrong glue.

I used Oatey (orange) with a primer (purple) on PVC not CPVC.

My question is why am I still ok and for how long.

Used for bathroom vanity/shower/kitchen sink and all drains?

Please advise on future prognosis of joints....as I mentioned not 1 link anywhere????!!!!

I feel like a real @#$%&...as project came out totally awesome except for this major major stupid itiotic blunder...

It should be fine unless an inspector ever sees it in MA.

As KC stated if a inspector saw that here in Ma it should have never passed inspection. Where permits pulled on this work ? If not when you sell the house this could be a major issue. The city or town can make you tear out all that work and start over. With proper permits and licenses.
In the state of Massachuetts it is illegal to do plumbing with out a plumbing license and you can be fined up to $2,500. This includes in your own home

I see this blunder a lot on DIY drainage plumbing. Can't remember seeing any leaks though.

You can call the manufacturer's 800 Tech Support line and ask one of the Chemists that work for the company.
