How much really does distance, the number of fittings, (other factors?) effect the equal pull off two heaters plumbed in parallel?

It would be difficult to give an exact answer, but an extra fitting would be enough added resistance to cause one heater to supply more water than the other.

I measure and make in and out equidistant so that it should be equal, then worry about how to get to and from the pipes. If the fittings are equal and the distance is close, the difference should be minuscule.

the drawing shows the PRINCIPLE of a 'reverse return' loop which will equalize flow through the heaters or other equipment

thanks for the responses. Looks like "reverse return" might solve distance/fitting issues.
