I want to install a dishwasher in my kitchen. There is currently no plumbing done to accommodate a dishwasher. I would like to know the procedure required to do this. The laundry room is directly below the kitchen.

A portable dishwasher requires no additional plumbing since it connects to your kitchen faucet (conventional faucet). A built in dishwasher (undercounter) is typically installed adjacent to the kitchen sink and utilizes the existing water and drain plumbing that serves your sink- not too involved to tap into.

To elaborate, the dish washer normally drains thru an air gap into the garbage disposal. So if you have a Disposal, you have a place to drain to. You need to take hot water from your kitchen sink with a 2 way angle stop. You also need power to run the DW. Good luck.
