 Sewer pipe
Author: Dad-1975 (KS)

My sewer pipe underneath my mobile home has a leak. I just now discovered it by the smell coming up through the floor. Will a plumber come out to fix it or will I need to take drastic measures and not use the water for 2 months to let it dry out?

Start with a company that focus on sewer issues and see what they say

You can help expedite the process by removing skirting, getting a box fan set up to circulate air underneath. It can help dry the affected area, because NOBODY likes to crawl through .. sewage filled mud. get an old broom to help get rid of the cobwebs. After the ground is dry, cardboard works well to help slide in and out; a tarp can help if the ground is still wet. Some of the little things like that can make the job site far friendlier for the plumber, and will help improve his mood, and possibly the workmanship, and possibly the price.

I know I have personally blown the price way out of the ballpark to do jobs in very unpleasant conditions. Trying to work in a mud hole in cramped quarters is a pain, and will generally require an additional trip home afterward for a shower and new clothes. I know of a few guys that got infestations of cockroaches after working in nasty restaurant basements and carried the little critters home on their clothes and in their trucks. Taking those few steps to prepare before the plumber shows up can completely change his attitude. Best of luck.

IT depends on the plumber and whether he can put something there so he is not working in mud.
