comments about Lakos twist to clean sediment traps?
Author: Fixitangel (NC)

I've used a "spin-down" type sediment trap on our well system, and they Do work, and catch alot of sediment, but maintenance is a hassle. The regular screen cleaning, shutting off the water, sediment clogging the drain ball valve, re-assembly and fixing little leaks are bummers. I saw this Lakos trap at our sponsor site that has a built in backwash feature that seems ideal. Has anybody had any experience with these? Do they work as advertised? Any problems?

I haven't tried them, but any filter that is getting plugged up is doing its job and trapping particulates.

My biggest concern is that the Lakos trap would eventually fail to seal after turning it back to normal operation. I think I'll try one, and just put a little brass full port 1/4 drain valve on the bottom. They all seem to crap out after so many years of service. Thanks.
