 Black Poly Water Line
Author: Mavtechinc (PA)

Started excavation for a large addition on my own residence. The existing water line from the well was installed while I was working out of state, so I have no idea of its location. I purchased some black poly pipe and brass couplings for a "just in case" repair while I'm digging. This is when I found out about IPS and CTS. My supplier carried IPS, which is what I purchased and after curiousity got the best of me I pulled a piece of the installed pipe out and seen the difference. It looks like the original line is CTS. I was wondering if there is a smart and efficient way to connect a splice (if I have too) of the 1" IPS in between the 1" CTS. I guess I'm requesting some advice on some decent undergound adaptors to take me from CTS to IPS and then back again.

Seems whacky to go with your method but a 1" brass or SS coupling with a 1" MIP X insert brass or SS adapter in one end and a 1" MIP X 1" CTS compression adapter in the other.

on the CTS side you need a stainless steel stiffener inside the plastic pipe.
