Delta cartridge in my tub shower valve

Default No Pressure from Delta Single Handle Shower Valve
Need help resolving a problem. There is a lake house that has rubberized grit in the water and the shower valve went from some pressure to zero pressure. The customer replaced the cartridge with a brand new one and still nothing. I took a look at it and disassembled everything and checked it for trash. The new cartridge is clear. I also left the cartridge out and turned the stops back on to the valve one at a time to see if adequate pressure was at the valve and both got and cold when turned on shot out to the back of the tub. However, when I install the cartridge back and turn on the valve only a pencil stream of water comes out of the spout. I need help if anyone has come across this before...

The cartridge itself is fouled with grit. Replace the cartridge and install a filter in the house cold water system.

You may also have debris stuck in the waterway to the spout and shower. Does the shower get flow at all when the tub is only getting a pencil stream?

By any chance is the piping from the valve to the tub spout older galvanized pipe? It tends to rust inside, and if you add "rubberized debris" into the equation, that's a good recipe for a clog.
