I have a problem with the hot water leaking in my shower which is a Price Pfister two handle faucet system, one hot and one cold. The leak is overhead, and not through the handle itself. I have replaced the seat and stem twice and it still leaks. I had a friend who is a plumber come over and work on it, and he no sooner got out of the door and it was leaking again. Incidentally, my house was built in 1992. Any suggestions as to what I might do to fix this problem.

Are you wrapping the seat thread in teflon tape? (just a one-and-a-half wraps).

I did not do that...I will give it a try.
Thank you.

The worst case scenario, and it appears to be what you are describing, is that a stem was installed WITHOUG being in the full open position and it contacted the seat before the stem was fully tightened. Final tightening of the stem cracked the web the seat is screwed into. I have seen it happen MANY times, and if that happened the only repair is to replace the valve.
