 Dirty Water and Weird Noises

This problem is confined to my one bathroom. The sinks and shower in other rooms are running clear water. However, my sink in the bathroom is running brown water, and there is brown water in the toilet tank. The toilet has also been making odd sounds when it is flushing, like there are pockets of air in the pipes. I'm renting and have a very difficult landlord, so he's very ambiguous about when/if he'll have someone check it out. Is there a way of fixing this myself? Thanks!

It sounds like rusted out water lines. Is this under a slab? As a renter, you are not permitted or required to replumb the house, and if you did so without permission, you could be subject to legal action. Most landlords won't give you permission regardless, because in the end they are on the hook for damages and any subsequent repairs to walls, floors, landscaping.
